WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THE LIBERTY SWING?
The Liberty Swing is a world-first Australian innovation – made in Sydney, Australia – that allows children in wheelchairs the opportunity to experience the joy of having a swing in the park. It is the only swing of its type that is fully lockable and allows a maximum swing height. When installed and operated according to the manufacturer's recommendations, it is a very safe and easy to use piece of equipment; the plastic molded capsule is fitted with an internal steel frame, making it robust enough to withstand the rigors of an outdoor children's playground. WHAT IS THE CARRYING CAPACITY?
The manufacturer recommends a maximum carrying capacity of 550 lbs (250 kg). (1)
WHY DOES THE LIBERTY SWING HAVE TO BE FENCED?
The manufacturer strongly recommends that the Liberty Swing be enclosed in a fenced area. While some people are opposed to fences in playgrounds, safety of children running in playgrounds must be paramount in decision-making. Consider the bulk of the capsule and weight when it contains a person plus wheelchair. We've found that most contemporary playgrounds these days are fenced – meaning peace of mind for caregivers and parents. (1)
HOW IS THE KEY USED?
The Liberty Swing is locked to ensure swing security when not in use. The key is used for the safety belt compartment AND to release the ramp on the Liberty Swing. A KEY LOCK BOX IS ON SITE with directions to call a phone number to receive the key code. When you visit, simply call the number and the key code will be shared.
Personal keys are also available to purchase for $5 at Franklin City Hall during regular business hours for your own personal use to universally access ALL Liberty Swings installed in the United States and worldwide (http://www.libertyswing.com.au/index.php/home/find-a-swing-near-you.html)
